Old corset, new pics!

  • Dec. 27th, 2009 at 1:12 AM

If I had to guess, I'd say this was started spring of 2008...maybe around Easter-time? I've changed shape since it was initially constructed, hence the uneven gap. It's also been worn hard--I took up Civil War reenacting in the interim, and it's been to a lot of events!

One more, and a link. )

Thanks for looking!

Self-Drafted Underbust, Take 2

  • Dec. 26th, 2009 at 8:07 PM
Hello!  Last month I posted here about my first attempt at a self-drafted under bust.  Everyone here was really helpful and encouraging, which is awesomeness itself.  I took all the advice to heart and remade the pattern.  This is my second attempt and I'm so very, very pleased with how it turned out.

So I've been searching in and out for about a week now to transfer to a new school, like the Rosedale Heights School of the Arts or Langely Fine Arts School.... I've heard of Athena at Windermere but that's a little far and I'm looking into something that covers actual ART classes. Has anyone here graduated from one?

Thanks for all the comments on my sushi post by the way! I seriously don't know which one to pick @@

Tonight is the Black Christmas : Best Of 2009 End Of Year Blowout at Sanctuary, but in just a week's time it'll be the first party of 2010 (!), and what better way to ring in the New Year than with the next event in our series of Tribute Parties paying homage to some of the best and most influential bands of all time?

New Years Ideas!

  • Dec. 25th, 2009 at 9:36 PM
Hello all the Vancouverites!

My partner and I from Ottawa will be enjoying New Years in your fair city, but we have no idea what there is available. We can find a lot of clubs and parties, but we were wondering what type of laid-back city events there might be. Music, fireworks, what are your favourite places to go when ringing in the New Year? Thanks!

What is your favourite Sushi place?

  • Dec. 25th, 2009 at 4:26 PM
Please provide name, address(or at least area), and why it is so great.

Oh yeah, speaking of which, a week or two ago I went to Sake Maki on Commercial Drive and there was the worsttttttttt waitress (she was new, young). Any idea if she's still there?

Christmas Pizza!

  • Dec. 25th, 2009 at 2:09 PM
Any pizza places open this fine Christmas?

I'm just dyin' for a fine pie! Frozen pizza just isn't going to cut it this festive day of Yule!

The closer to Guildford the better. Yes, I'm stuck in Surrey. *grumble*

Yule Log Channel

  • Dec. 24th, 2009 at 12:37 PM
I'm with Shaw and usually the yule log channel is on 115 which is RDI now.  I've been looking everywhere for it and I can't find it! Any help?  I don't have HD or digital or anything.

Sewing courses

  • Dec. 24th, 2009 at 11:44 AM
Hi Vancouver and Happy Holidays!

I am looking to take a beginners/basic sewing (for learning how to sew with sewing machines) class. I know a bit, but not enough to actually make anything. :(

Any recommendations? I think I would prefer taking classes at a business rather than a continuing education type, but I'm pretty flexible.

I'm in Surrey; travel is not a problem but closer would be better.

Thanks!

Happy Holidays Vancouver!

  • Dec. 24th, 2009 at 7:34 AM
Hey there Vancouver! I'm off in Edmonton right now visiting with the familial units and feeling homesick for Van. 2 years ago it was the other way around! Anyway, I just thought I'd drop you a line to say hi and wish you well over the coming weeks into the first of many New Year celebrations. I hope you are spending time with people you care about and if not I hope you can connect by phone. Oh, I also wanted to ask you what your favourite Vancouver-related holiday tradition is?

Mine are non-Vancouver but include:
- watching the original How the Grinch Stole Christmas
- egg nog
- annual Solstice party with all my friends
- walking the Legislative Grounds to see the lights

So, how about you?

UBC

Hi there - I am thinking of applying to UBC to study Human Kinetics. Does anyone know anything about this course/are there any UBC students out there who can tell me a bit about what is like to be a student at UBC! I live in London, UK but I have dual citizenship as my mum is Canadian. Thanks for you help!x

(Please forgive me for cross posting this a few times)
I don't even know the proper name for what I need, but long story short, the large burner on my stove got into a little incident with a plastic cutting board.

I am supposed to be cooking a very big Christmas Dinner tomorrow and I can't use the little burner's for a few of the things I am cooking (in a large pan)... etc...

I have no idea where to find this, and my landlord is away on vacation!!! I checked the Walmart website because that is the closest store to me, but I seriously need to find one by tomorrow at noon at the latest.

So, anyone know where I can get one? I live in White Rock but I will send out my man if it's further!

Thanks and Happy Holidays to everyone =)

Any vegan dishes in Shabusen?

  • Dec. 23rd, 2009 at 6:38 PM
So my family is planning lunch at Shabusen on Granville. I want to bring my girlfriend to meet them and she is vegan. Do they have any vegan dishes at Shabusen?

Thanks!

Edit: My family and I will be probably planning to get the All you can eat option. My aunt told me that if you don't get all you can eat, you can't sit with people who are getting AYCE. Does the AYCE menu have anything vegan?
I just found out that my plan doesn't cover visioncare at all, so I'm looking for the best deals in Vancouver on an overdue eye exam and a new pair of glasses.

Thanks in advance, and seasons greetings.

Sometimes I see people escorting, I assume, foreign exchange students around the city. Giving them a sort of tour. I'm studying Japanese and I've been thinking that this would be a great opportunity for me to practice and improve while helping some newbies get to know their new home. So, does anyone know where one goes to get hooked up with this kind of position, what kind of requirements there are, etc?
